‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ Composer and More Speak Out About AI at Ghent’s WSA Film Music Days: ‘We Must Continue to Defend Our Art’ and more — today's music signal.
The world of music and entertainment is abuzz with a mix of creative collaborations and contentious issues, all vying for our attention today. On the one hand, we have exciting updates from the realms of music and film, such as the addition of Kylie Minogue, Jonathan Groff, and Catherine Tate to the voice cast of Cynthia Erivo's 'Bad Fairies', and Olivia Rodrigo's fun appearance alongside Chappell Roan in a retro video for the 'Expectations' remix, hosted by the inimitable David Byrne. These projects showcase the vibrant and innovative spirit of the entertainment industry, where artists continually push boundaries and explore new ideas.
However, amidst these creative endeavors, the music and film communities are also grappling with more serious concerns, including the impact of AI on artistic expression and the importance of defending human creativity. This was a key topic of discussion at Ghent's WSA Film Music Days, where composers like the one behind 'Avatar: Fire and Ash' spoke out about the need to protect their art from the increasing presence of AI. Meanwhile, the world at large is reeling from tragic events like the Oregon school shooting, and controversies such as Mike Tyson's accusation against Supreme for breaching contract over a Palestinian flag hoodie. As we navigate the complexities of our world, the music and entertainment industries continue to play a significant role in shaping our perspectives and sparking important conversations.
